Jamf Nation Live 2024 Event Recap.

The social calendar post-WWDC is in full swing with the anticipated #Jamf Nation Live event wrapping up across the region for another year. Once again Jamf delivered an outstanding summary and clear path forward for the #macadmin community managing devices across the Apple platform. Jamf also launched their new Global Partner Program, and kicked off the event with some stellar awards, one of which Mac Centre was thrilled to receive.

THE OPENING KEYNOTE:

Building on the themes of previous years – Love and Trust and Trusted Access – this year’s focus advanced to achieving greater organisational compliance, with a move to securing all mobile devices within the workplace. In the opening keynote, Sam Johnson and Michael Covington emphasised the importance of breaking down operational silos that persist in IT environments if we are to achieve such a desired state of compliance, while also highlighting the importance of placing the ‘user’ at the heart of your IT strategy. By enrolling all devices, organisations can adopt a holistic approach to IT security, empowering users with the freedom to work productively and securely across all platforms, on any working day.

Later showcased in the opening keynote, Jamf was recently awarded as a leader in the IDC MarketScape 2024 UEM Software for Apple devices – cementing Jamf’s position as the only comprehensive solution for the modern organisation, that is Apple-first. Jamf is the only vendor to deliver device management, user identity and endpoint protection in one platform.

The goal for device management is shifting from simply sending remote commands and viewing device information to introducing stable and scalable security solutions through ‘Trusted Access’. This new phase for Apple device administrators aims to leverage the platform’s built-in security, complementing it with tools that secure the network, prevent threats, and establish access controls.

The way forward is not prescriptive, as each organisation has its unique quirks and restrictions. Initially, this requires a thoughtful approach: ‘How do I want my organisation to stay secure while keeping employees happy?’ and ‘How can I achieve compliance without compromising the user experience?’.  Many organisations manage to address one of these challenges, but rarely both. The balance can be achieved through a well designed strategy, inclusive of well-defined tools, that Jamf offers.
